Flour Mite, Acarus siro
Flour Mites are tiny creatures at just 0.5mm long. It is white in colour with brownish legs and is smooth bodied with no wings.
The female lays 20-30 eggs per day and can lay up to 800 eggs. The mites feed on nuts, seeds or grain. They are also able to develop suckers when they are young which allow them to attach themselves to animals and moving objects.
